Lee Jin-wook Boldly Faces Viewers’ Negative Responses To “Sweet Home 2”

Actor Lee Jin-wook talked about himself and his recent work “Sweet Home 2”

Released on December 1st, Netflix’s series “Sweet Home 2” continued the story of Green Home survivors as they move to a new home and face new monsters. Lee Jin-wook returned in Season 2 as Pyeon Sang-wook, who has been possessed by Jung Eui-myung (Kim Sung-chul).

When asked if he understood and judged the background of “Sweet Home”, which is set in a world on the verge of devastation, Lee Jin-wook calmly said, “It’s not as bad as you might think when you’re among the people. I think it’s just a regression to the primitive society”. Regarding his character, the actor explained, “Jung Eui-myung took over Pyeon Sang-wook’s body, right? I tried to follow Jung Eui-myung’s thoughts rather than copying that character’s expressions”, adding that he received help from Kim Sung-chul, who played Jung Eui-myung in Season 1.

Some viewers complained that Lee Jin-wook had too little screen time in Season 2. In this regard, Lee Jin-wook firmly said, “I should have appeared more in this season”, adding “If they watch Season 3, I think their disappointment will be relieved a little bit. To be honest, I’m not greedy for screen time”

Knowing that Season 2 received more negative reviews compared to Season 1, Lee Jin-wook said, “I think it is because the expectations were so high. Even when the work itself is good, if there’s anything viewers want to see but can’t find in the drama, they would possibly feel disappointed”, adding “Maybe making you feel disappointed in Season 2 was the intention for Season 3. It’s up to the public to judge”.

Lee Jin-wook started acting without knowing anything because he didn’t major in acting, but now, he has become an actor with 20 years of experience. Describing himself, the actor said he likes to explore new things and think positively but he doesn’t express much emotion. Due to his personality, Lee Jin-wook does not get affected much by criticism. He shared, “Judgement is just judgment. If there’s something I need to improve, I’ll fix it”.

When asked if he felt pressured about joining “Sweet Home 2”, the actor shared, “I feel no pressure at all. I just worked hard on the set and enjoyed the process”. He also showed admiration for the growth of junior actors. Mentioning how Song Kang, Go Min-si and Lee Do-hyun have developed themselves into popular actors during the past 3 years, Lee Jin-wook said, “I’m impressed and proud of them. I’m thankful that they are playing significant roles in reviving the film industry”.

Lastly, Lee Jin-wook confessed that he was able to continue acting for 20 years thanks to his attitude in life, adding “I made quick judgments and faced the reality well. I tend to make decisions rationally according to the situations and think deeply”.
