“I tried to do CPR but he didn’t wake up”, Lee Ji Han’s mother wailed while hugging her son’s shoes tightly

The mother of the late actor Lee Ji Han, who died in the Itaewon crush disaster, vented out her frustration.

The broadcast of MBC’s “News Desk” on November 2nd reported the site of the ‘Itaewon disaster’ lost and found center located at the Indoor Gymnasium on Wonhyo-ro, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. 

On that day, the bereaved families and acquaintances came to the place after the funerals and the late Lee Ji Han’s mother also appeared. Lee Ji Han’s mother came out holding her son’s shoes tightly in her arms. She wailed, “What should I do now? If the son of Prime Minister Han Deok Soo called 112, hundreds of police would have been mobilized. Why did 112 ignore calls from normal people?”.

She sobbed and said, “After going around the hospital, I finally came to my son’s body. I tried to do CPR but he didn’t wake up. Our son is so pretty. He’s my treasure.”

Lee Ji Han passed away in a crowd crush that happened in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the evening of October 29th. Announcing the sad news, his agency 935 Entertainment said, “Actor Lee Ji Han was a friendly and warm friend to everyone”, adding “We still can’t believe that we will not be able to see our bright and pure actor Lee Ji Han, who always smiled brightly and greeted us confidently, anymore.”

Lee Ji Han participated in Mnet’s “Produce 101 Season 2” in 2017 then turned to acting. He starred in the web drama “Today Was Another Nam Hyun Day” as the main character. The fact that Lee Ji Han was about to make his debut in a terrestrial drama as he had been cast in MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “The Season of Kokdu” and even joined the filming made people feel even sadder.
