Lee Do-hyun reflected on his immature days when he couldn’t proudly introduce his younger brother, “I got emotional thinking of my developmentally disabled brother”

Actor Lee Do-hyun mentioned his younger brother, who has a developmental disability, and talked about his immature days with self-reflection.

The broadcast of KBS2’s “Entertainment Weekly” aired on January 14th released the content of an interview with actor Lee Do-hyun for the “2022 stars who raise high expectations” special.

Lee Do-hyun appeared in KBS2’s drama “Youth of May”, which ended last year, and made the viewers cry hard with his heart-warming acting. Performing enthusiastically, Lee Do-hyun eventually won the Top Excellence Award and Best Couple Award at the 2021 KBS Drama Awards.

Lee Do-hyun said, “Honestly, I think it happened so unexpectedly, and I didn’t expect it at all. SinceI was nominated for the Excellence Award, I couldn’t do anything other than expect myself to be that one. I also prepared an acrostic poem for my acceptance speech.”

Then the actor drew attention as he brought up the story of his younger brother he mentioned at the awards ceremony. While delivering his acceptance speech at that time, Lee Do-hyun said, “My younger doesn’t have a healthy body. So every time I look at him, I think I should focus on my initial intentions and work harder in acting. Thank you, brother. I love you.”

Lee Do-hyun shared, “I always get emotional when thinking of my younger brother. I’m still immature at the moment. But when I was younger and more immature, there was a time when I couldn’t proudly introduce him as my brother.”

However, Lee Do-hyun has changed. He now loves to say, “He’s my brother”, and confidently shows overflowing affection for his younger brother. In an interview with Esquire in 2019, Lee Do-hyun also confessed about his family backstory. He said, “Since our country’s welfare policies have been better, my younger is now working at a mart. However, many people still secretly tease him for having a developmental disability.”

Lee Do-hyun continued, “My mother has worked as a newspaper deliveryman for a long time, so I hope my mother, father, and younger brother could take a break from work and just live on the money I earn. If I could bring them a life like that, I would feel more comfortable even when I enlist in the military”.
