Korean trainees of HYBE’s global girl group project: 21-year-old Nayoung and 15-year-old Yoonchae

Korean trainees Nayoung and Yoonchae among the 20 trainees of “The Debut: Dream Academy” were revealed.

An online and offline press conference was held at 9 AM on August 29th (KST) in IGA Studio, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, USA to commemorate the launch of “The Debut: Dream Academy”.

Major executives of HYBE and GEFFEN Records, including HYBE’s Chairman Bang Si Hyuk and GEFFEN Records’ Chairman John Janick, CEO Mithra Darab and executive creator Son Sung Deuk, attended the event. Besides, 20 trainees, who have been chosen through a fierce 6000:1 competition among 120,000 applicants around the world over the past two years, were present.

Nayoung Yoonchae

The 20 trainees revealed for the first time at the press conference have various nationalities, including Korea, Sweden, Argentina, Japan, Brazil, the United States, Thailand, the Philippines, China and the United States. Among them, there are only two Korean trainees: 21-year-old Nayoung and 15-year-old Yoonchae.

At the end of the press conference, 20 trainees introduced themselves in English then introduced themselves again in different languages. Nayoung and Yoonchae exuded a strong charm by talking clearly about their names, ages and countries of origin. The two looked at the camera with bright smiles and expressed excitement rather than nervousness about their first appearance in front of the public, raising expectations for their future activities.

The Debut: Dream Academy

Meanwhile, “The Debut: Dream Academy” will be available through its official YouTube channel, Japan’s ABEMA and the global fandom live platform Weverse from 0:00 on September 2nd. The audition will be held for a total of 12 weeks from September 2nd to November 18th. It consists of three mission rounds and the live broadcast “Live Finale”. The final debut group will be announced through “Live Finale”, which is scheduled to be broadcast live on November 18th.
