On August 21, the press conference for Amazon Prime Video’s series Butterfly was held at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall in Seoul. Cast members Daniel Dae Kim, Reina Hardesty, Kim Ji-hoon, Kim Tae-hee, and Sean Richard attended the event.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name, Butterfly follows a thrilling chase between former U.S. intelligence agent David Jung (played by Daniel Dae Kim) and Rebecca (Reina Hardesty), an active agent sent to eliminate him.

Daniel Dae Kim not only produced the series but also played the lead role. The drama boasts a stellar lineup of Korean stars including Kim Tae-hee, Park Hae-soo, Kim Na-yoon, Kim Ji-hoon, Sung Dong-il, and Lee Il-hwa.

Kim Ji-hoon takes on the role of Gun, a ruthless yet stylish assassin. Introducing his character, he said, “He’s brutal but cool, with a lot of action scenes. I think it turned out really well, so I hope viewers will enjoy it.”

The actor revealed that he auditioned for the role and had to tackle English acting. “As I showed on I Live Alone, I was preparing for it in my daily life. Still, it wasn’t easy. Since Gun is a reserved killer, he doesn’t have many lines, but I wanted to deliver every English line perfectly. I practiced repeatedly with a native teacher,” he explained.

He also admitted being surprised when Kim Tae-hee revealed that she didn’t do much dubbing after filming. Kim Ji-hoon caused laughter as he commented, “She must have been really good at English. I had to do a lot.”

Butterfly consists of six episodes and will premiere on tvN from August 22, airing every Friday and Saturday at 10:40 PM for Korean audiences.
