Girl group Kep1er will challenge to become the next-generation “Summer Queen” with “Up!”.
On the afternoon of June 20th, a showcase was held at Yes24 Live Hall, Gucheonmyeon-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul to commemorate the release of girl group Kep1er‘s second mini-album “DOUBLAST”. Kep1er unveiled the stage and music video of their new song “Up!” for the first time as well as shared various stories about the new album.
Kep1er will make a comeback after 5 months by releasing their second mini-album “DOUBLAST” through online music sites at 6 PM on June 20th. “DOUBLAST” is an album that contains the adventure story of 9 girls who took a strong first step with their debut track “WA DA DA”. Kep1er plans to invite listeners to “Kep1er Island” and tell the brilliant music story of 9 colors through 5 songs.
Leader Choi Yu-jin said, “We really worked hard on this album to repay you for giving us so much love during ‘WA DA DA’. I’m nervous and excited since it’s a comeback after 6 months. I hope you enjoy our performance today.” Kang Ye-seo added, “I was so nervous this time that I couldn’t sleep. It’s nice to be able to be with fans. Please love the ‘Up!’ performance that we prepared this time.”
The title song “Up!” is a song that enhances the refreshing summer atmosphere by combining energetic vocals and cute lyrics over the combination of rhythmical punk house and soulful house genres. Choi Yu-jin said, “If we showed charisma with ‘WA DA DA’, this time, our goal is to be young, fresh and happy. We’ll happily enjoy our activities.” Kim Chae-hyun went on to say, “It’s the first time we try this concept. We want to get reviews like ‘You’re good at this, too’.” Kim Da-yeon hinted, “Energetic performance is a strength, so we’ll catch the eye with a dance break.”
In addition, the new album is filled with 5 tracks consisting of various musical styles, from “LE VOYA9E”, which depicts the voyage that 9 members will unfold together, “Attention”, which depicts the mysterious excitement between the two beyond friends, “Good Night” – a song about the cute appearance of a girl who fell asleep while feeling sad to say goodbye, to “Rewind” – a fan song that sings about a warm promise to be with fans who always cheer Kep1er up. Kep1er is expected to show their digestive power with various genres such as punk house, minimal pop, moombahton, pop dance, medium tempo R&B, as well as demonstrate their high-quality musical synergy with energetic vocals, rhythmical rapping, hooking performances and young-fresh identity.
On this day, the members talked about what they gained from appearing on Mnet’s “Queendom 2”. Mashiro said, “There were some physically difficult parts while preparing for ‘Queendom 2’ and our comeback at the same time, but it was an honor to be with my favorite seniors.” Kang Ye-seo continued, “I always wanted to present perfect stages with my sisters without losing my original intention. Seo Young-eun talked about Kep1er’s differentiation during “Queendom 2”, “We know what each other is good at because our team has been together since ‘Girls Planet 999’.
