K-drama “Night Has Come” Goes Viral Despite Lesser-Known Cast

With an intriguing plot and well-executed production, the K-drama “Night Has Come” has garnered massive attention

Despite attracting little hype prior to its release, the new K-drama “Night Has Come” is currently a hot topic in South Korea. The series, which revolves around high school students being forced to play a mafia game of death, has been leaving a lasting impact on viewers.

Night Has Come

As of now, “Night Has Come” has aired up to the 5th episode and has become a social media sensation in South Korea. On the U+Mobile TV platform, the series topped the charts for total views on its first day, breaking the previous record held by its predecessor “Hi Cookie.”

Furthermore, the series has demonstrated strong success on Netflix, claiming the 3rd position in the Top 10 in South Korea just one day after its release, despite not being an original production of the streaming platform.

Night Has Come

Across various social media platforms in South Korea, thousands of posts have been shared within a week since the release of the series, with audiences eagerly trying to uncover the mastermind behind the storyline. Additionally, on Naver Open Talk, the series recorded 140,000 subscribers within a week of its debut. It has also proven its popularity on Watchapedia, rising to the top spot in the overall content rankings in just 5 days.

As a result, South Korean media sites have expressed surprise at the unprecedented allure of “Night Has Come”.

In fact, “Night Has Come” introduces a lesser-known cast, and premieres on a small streaming platform. With the exception of Choi Ye-bin, who may be familiar to audiences due to her appearance in the hit series “Penthouse”, most of the main cast consists of newcomers who have not garnered much attention in the acting scene. Additionally, the film addresses heavy themes, making it unappealing to the mass before release.

Night Has Come

Contrary to initial expectations however, “Night Has Come” has achieved remarkable success. Audiences have showered the work with countless praises, especially for exploring a very novel and intense narrative that breaks away from typical tropes in Korean school, horror, and survival genres.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • It’s even scarier than “All of Us Are Dead”, truly the darkest drama of the year.
  • You simply cannot predict anything that will happen at all… I’m eagerly anticipating the final episode.
  • This is the most unique K-drama I’ve ever watched. Korea has truly mastered the survival genre.
  • If this series were to be globally available on Netflix, I can’t imagine the explosive response it would receive.
  • It’s been a while since I’ve seen such an intriguing dark series; it’s genuinely haunting.
