Kim Hye-soo’s Moments At Her Last Blue Dragon Film Awards, “Let’s Find A 22-Year-Old To Fill In My Place”

Actress Kim Hye-soo made a suggestion for the Blue Dragon Film Awards to find the next MC

On December 12th, the YouTube channel “by PDC” uploaded a new video titled “Kim Hyesoo’s Last Blue Dragon Film Awards | Kim Hyesoo’s [Way Back Home by PDC] (Part 1)”.

Ahead of her last Blue Dragon Film Awards, Kim Hye-soo expressed her feelings, saying “Today is the last day I’m hosting the Blue Dragon Film Awards, but it doesn’t feel anything different. It just feels like any other year I’ve been hosting. Like any other year, my main goal is to host the show smoothly without any mistakes or accidents.”

She continued, “Every year hosting the Blue Dragon Film Awards, I get leg cramps! I wear super high heels. It’s even higher than usual because I’m wearing a long dress and I have to stay standing for 2-3 hours straight. It’s always part 2 that I get the cramps. That means I still have over an hour to host the show standing with a cramp. There were times I thought of quitting because my legs hurt.”

Revealing that she even starved herself to wear dresses, Kim Hye-soo said, “There were times I just didn’t eat anything. I just returned from a trip and gained a bit of weight but there wasn’t enough time to get into shape before the filming. That’s when someone advised me to try starving. Surprisingly it worked, and I lost one kg a day. I would eat all I wanted and then for 3 days, I eat very little dinner. But if I don’t see the results I wanted on the day before filming, I would starve for the entire day. It was a very unhealthy method, but even if I knew it was bad. I was in a hurry and had no choice”. She added, “I got burned out after filming ‘Under the Queen’s Umbrella’ so I decided to take a year off from everything to work out harder and regain a healthy lifestyle.”

Arriving at the waiting room, Kim Hye-soo started reviewing the script. She shared, “When I’m introducing someone, I try to remove the comments that may be evaluating their appearances and talk about the work and achievement of the person or the impact of the work had on Korea’s film industry”, showing her professional aspect.

Actor Yoo Yeon-seok, who hosted the Blue Dragon Film Awards with Kim Hye-soo, came to her waiting room and practiced the script with her. Praising Yoo Yeon-seok, Kim Hye-soo said, “Yeon-seok is a bit young to host the Blue Dragon Film Awards. He’s probably the youngest male host at the moment. I remember him remaining very calm since the first day we worked together. I made a lot of mistakes and he came to the rescue every single time.”

When Kim Hye-soo read her last line, the production staff reacted, “I hope I don’t cry”. Kim Hye-soo then said, “Why is everyone sad? All of my acquaintances text me saying they’re going to cry. Everyone’s reacting as if I’m retiring forever”, drawing laughter. She added, “I started this in my early 20s and I wonder how I pulled off such a grand ceremony at such a young age. So how about finding a 22-year-old to fill in my place?”

Meanwhile, Kim Hye-soo had been hosting the Blue Dragon Film Awards foro 30 years since 1993. She stepped down from the MC position after the 44th award ceremony last month.
