Jinjo Crew “Withdrawal of members who committed sexual violence, sorry for not being considerate of the victim, suspension of activities”

World-renowned B-boying team Jinjo Crew apologized regarding the revelation of sexual violence.

A, a female member who belonged to Jinjo Crew, claimed that she was sexually assaulted by a male member of the crew on November 30th, 2019 (hereinafter referred to as “B”) and was sexually harassed by another male member on February 5th, 2022 (hereinafter referred to as “C”).

Jinjo Crew’s representative Kim Hyun Jun stated that they removed C on August 27th. Kim added that they immediately separated and expelled B based on A’s claim of sexual assault. However, in the case of the 2022 sexual harassment claim, due to conflicting statements during third-party face-to-face meetings, they could not handle the situation as delicately as they wished and apologized for it.

Kim also emphasized that if A takes legal actions against the perpetrators, the truth will be revealed through investigative agencies and the court. Kim noted that especially if the accusations against C are proven true, they intend to take legal action for damaging the team’s reputation and image.

Jinjo Crew denied several claims made by A, including allegations of a deteriorating team environment after the 2022 incident leading to the simultaneous departure of three members, the crew exerting undue influence in the domestic breaking scene, gaslighting A, the representative making sexually harassing remarks and supporting the accused members. They vowed to prevent such incidents in the future and announced a temporary halt in their activities. They also emphasized their commitment to pursuing legal action against the spread of false information.

Established in 2001, Jinjo Crew is a B-boying team that has achieved notable victories in various competitions, including the 2021 Battle of the Year in the crew battle category. They gained further recognition by winning JTBC’s “Showdown” in 2022.
