Actor Jang Dong-gun made a surprise appearance as a presenter at the 1st Blue Dragon Series Awards, drawing attention.
On the afternoon of July 19th, the first Blue Dragon Series Awards were held at Paradise City, Jung-gu, Incheon. Broadcaster Jeon Hyun-moo and actress Lim Yoon-ah, member of the group Girls’ Generation, hosted the event.
Jang Dong-gun took the stage to announce the “Best Drama” award as he was introduced as “The actor representing Korea.” “Hello, I’m Jang Dong-gun,” he said, saying, “I’m so happy and glad to meet everyone after a long time at such a wonderful and meaningful place.”
He then continued, “Various contents and series of works in Korea, which stand out worldwide in various fields, are now not just popular, but also lead to interest in Korean culture.”
“I often see the letter K in various fields that people around the world are enthusiastic about. K is the pride of everyone who makes K-pop, K-drama, and K-entertainment. Through this opportunity, I would like to add another meaning to K, which is spreading not only in Korea but also around the world. It is Key, the key to open the closed hearts of many people,” he said. “I would like to send my warm gratitude and encouragement to all actors, entertainers, and staff who hold that key.”
Meanwhile, the Blue Dragon Series Awards, which marks its first event this year, are awards for domestic drama series and entertainment produced or invested by online video services Netflix, Disney+, Seezn, Apple TV+, Watcha, Wavve, Kakao TV, Coupang Play, and TVing. “D.P.” and “Transit Love” won the “Best Drama” and “Best Entertainment Program”, respectively.
