From senior singers to fellow celebrities and staff, everyone is showing thumbs up to IVE’s Jang Wonyoung. They attest that her personality off-camera is as excellent as her on-camera presence
On Nov 17th, J. Y. Park appeared as a guest on BamBam’s YouTube channel “Bam House”.
When BamBam asked “What do you think looking at the singers who debuted later than you?“, J. Y. Park replied, “I feel like they’re debuting when they’re ready to be an idol. It’s so different. The period when you debuted was like that too.”
He praised Jang Wonyoung, “The moment I thought this person is really a celebrity… was… When I did ‘Groove Back’ challenge, I did the challenge with Jang Wonyoung. Everything… from the moment we met, filmed the challenge to the moment we said ‘bye’, it was all so ‘idol’. I’m saying this in a good way.”
J. Y. Park added, “I can see that she likes and enjoys this life and is living that life properly. Maybe she could have hard time inside but at least exterior side told me that. I thought that maybe this is the ‘idol mode installation’.“
In July, it was belatedly revealed that during the filming of IVE’s “I AM” music video, Jang Wonyoung was abruptly transferred to the emergency room due to an arm injury.
The director of the music video, Son Seung-hee, who appeared as a guest on MBC FM4U’s “GOT7 Youngjae’s Close Friend”, said, “I’m especially grateful to Wonyoung. While Jang Wonyoung was dancing, she injured her arm. She had to get 7 stitches.“
According to the director, Jang Wonyoung suffered the injury when there were still 2 remaining scenes to shoot. After Jang Wonyoung went to the emergency room 2 days in a row and got her arm stitched, she completed all the scenes. The director added, “What was even more impressive was that she didn’t show any signs of struggle on set.”
Besides, in January, after shooting with IVE on SBS’s “Running Man”, Haha conducted a real-time broadcast through the Internet broadcasting platform “Twitch” and shared, “Jang Wonyoung is amazing. How did she grow up so well? She’s pretty, and her personality is good. She didn’t miss anything. I heard she studied well too. Even though she’s young, she’s humble.“
Haha revealed, “Wonyoung came to me during the break and asked, ‘You lived in Dongbu Ichon-dong, right?’ I answered, ‘That’s right.’ Then Wonyoung said that she was from the same neighborhood.”
Jang Wonyoung’s group IVE held their first world tour “IVE THE 1ST WORLD TOUR ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE”’ in Yokohama, Japan on Nov 15th and 16th.
