IU’s Boyfriend Lee Jong-suk Hopes 2024 Will Be A Year Of More Love
It has been a year since actor Lee Jong-seok announced his romantic relationship with singer IU.
Lee Jong-suk appeared as the presenter of the Daesang at the 2023 MBC Acting Awards held at the Sangam MBC Public Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul on December 30th.
Lee Jong-suk said, “It’s already been a year since I received an award here last year. I still vividly remember how nervous I was at that time, but now that I am a presenter, I feel very new. How are you all wrapping up 2023?“
Lee Jong-suk added, “There is only one day left in 2023. I hope that the upcoming New Year will be the 2024 when everyone is happier and loves more than this year.”
Lee Jong-suk won the grand prize (Daesang) at the 2022 MBC Acting Awards for his role as Park Chang-ho, who seeks justice in the MBC drama “Big Mouse” last year.
At the 2022 MBC Drama Awards last year, Lee Jong-seok made a public confession, mentioning “her” when he made his acceptance speech. “I had a lot of fears and worries after my military service, but there is someone who helped me think positively. Thank you for always being so cool,” Lee said. “I want to take this opportunity to tell her that I have really liked her for a long time. I want to say that I respect her so much.“
Lee Jong-suk only described his partner as “her” at the awards ceremony at the time, drawing a lot of attention to the identity of “her.” Later, when the identity of “her” became known as IU, Lee Jong-suk and IU each admitted their relationship and left letters on the fan cafe. The two are known to have been knowing each other since 2012 as the MC of SBS’s “Inkigayo” and have become boyfriend and girlfriend last year.
