The achievements of Jisoo with her solo debut are drawing huge attention, and netizens can’t help but compare her to fellow BLACKPINK members.
On March 31st, Jisoo officially released the MV for her solo title “Flower”, making the Kpop fan community restless and creating an explosive effect on social media platforms. “Flower” features a catchy melody and addictive beat, along with extravagant and luxurious scenes. In particular, BLACKPINK’s eldest member left a strong impression with her goddess-like beauty and captivating charisma.
After 24 hours of release, “Flower” excellently ranked #1 on iTunes in more than 60 countries, including the US. In the Korean market, the track is also achieving quite good rankings with 1.2 million streams on music platform MelOn, and the number is expected to increase even more during the promotion period.
However, due to facing strong competitors on the Korean charts, “Flower” is having a hard time to break previous digital records of other BLACKPINK members. In particular, Jennie’s solo debut, “SOLO”, achieved an “All-Kill” on all major music charts in Korea within only 2 hours of release, and maintained the same position 17 times within the first day. Although all members of BLACKPINK have then released their own solo tracks, “SOLO” is still considered to have the catchiest and most addictive melody, with the best performance on Korean charts.
Regarding the YouTube front, Jisoo’s “Flower” recorded 40 million views and 4.8 million likes after 24 hours of release (estimated numbers), trending #1 on YouTube in 43 countries. This is an outstanding performance compared to the rest of the Kpop community, though still lower than Rosé’s “On The Ground” with 41 million views within the first 24 hours, and Lisa’s LALISA with 73.6 million first-day views.
On the other hand, Jisoo has set an impressive record with album sales with her first official solo release. Specifically, her solo debut album, “ME”, remarkably sold 876,249 copies within the first day, the highest for a female solo artist in Hanteo’s history.
Previously, “ME” also recorded more than 1.24 million pre-orders – a proud achievement that no female solo artist has achieved before.
