Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon candidly admitted she envies celebrities who own homes in Seoul’s upscale Hannam-dong neighborhood during a recent appearance on MBC’s Where Is My Home (Save Me! Homes). The July 16 episode featured Hyoyeon, fromis\ 9’s Chaeyoung, Yang Se Chan, and Ahn Jae Hyun touring homes tailored to single women in their 40s and 50s.

The cast visited the home of a woman in her 50s who has lived alone for 20 years in Yongsan District’s Hannam-dong, one of Seoul’s most exclusive residential areas.

During the tour, Yang Se Chan commented, “This neighborhood has become a place many people in their 40s are looking at these days. I’m one of them.”

Hyoyeon then shared her honest thoughts, saying that simply reading entertainment news makes her envious. “These days, just reading the news, I see celebrity friends buying homes in Hannam-dong on their own. I’m jealous.”

Although she didn’t mention anyone by name, her remarks came amid recent headlines about several high-profile celebrities purchasing luxury properties in the neighborhood.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie and IVE’s Jang Won Young have both recently attracted attention for their real estate investments in Hannam-dong. According to previous reports:

Their purchases sparked widespread discussion due to the neighborhood’s reputation as one of Seoul’s most prestigious residential districts.

Meanwhile, fromis\ 9 member Chaeyoung recalled spending her trainee years near Hangangjin Station, which is adjacent to Hannam-dong. She admitted that the neighborhood initially felt intimidating. “I used to see Hannam-dong, and the atmosphere felt overwhelming. There are so many old buildings, and it just seemed like there must be a lot of wealthy people there. I felt a little intimidated. I thought I’d come back and appreciate the area after turning 30.”

Her candid remarks drew laughs from the panel as they continued exploring the neighborhood.
