HYBE and GEFFEN Records will hold a press conference for the global girl group audition project “The Debut: Dream Academy” at 9 a.m. on August 29th (KST) in IGA Studio in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.

20 trainees who participate in the final selection process will be introduced for the first time at the press conference. The trainees, who have been chosen through a fierce 6000:1 competition among 120,000 applicants around the world over the past two years, will show their faces for the first time. With diverse regional and cultural backgrounds, the trainees will reflect on the past years they spent pursuing the dream of becoming singers and showcase their charms as well as their potential to become girl group members.

In addition, HYBE and GEFFEN’s major executives, including Chairman Bang Si Hyuk, Chairman John Janick, CEO Mithra Darab and executive creator Son Sung Deok, will attend the press conference and share various information, including the purposes and goals of the project, audition methods, collaborations with global media and communication with fans.

Expectations are higher for Chairman Bang Si Hyuk since this is his first global project in more than two years since the debut of HYBE’s first Japanese group &TEAM in 2021. In fact, Bang Si Hyuk has been visiting the US quite often for the past two years to lead the project.

HYBE explained, “This global project will present experiences that music fans around the world have never had before and utilizes all of our artist production capabilities. In particular, the project is to foster artists by applying the K-pop production system for the first time in the US”.

Meanwhile, “The Debut: Dream Academy” is jointly hosted by ‘HYBExGEFFEN’, a collaboration between HYBE and Universal Music Group’s subsidiary GEFFEN Records. HYBExGEFFEN announced the recruitment of trainees in November 2021 and launched a grand global project to discover rookies.
