Hwang Jae-gyun Unveils His Love Story Like Destiny With Wife Jiyeon, “Mentioning Children In First Meeting”
Appearing on the January 2nd broadcast of SBS’s entertainment program “Strong Heart VS”, Hwang Jae-gyun talked about his love story with T-ara’s Jiyeon.
When asked how they held their first marriage anniversary, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “Jiyeon likes simple things. I asked her what she wanted for the anniversary and she said ‘tteokbokki’. So I secretly booked a restaurant at a wedding venue instead of tteokbokki and we had a special dinner together at the hotel”.
Hwang Jae-gyun actively encouraged marriage, saying “You have freedom when you’re single, but just boldly give up on it when you get married. You’ll be happier when you are with your wife”.
When asked about his first meeting with Ji-yeon, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “An acquaintance suddenly called me to their house saying they were with a close younger sister and that person was Jiyeon. I was very surprised when she opened the door and came in. She was very pretty”, adding “10 minutes after we met, the acquaintance was drunk and they suddenly said, ‘If you two get married, the baby would be very pretty’.”
He continued, “Jiyeon needed to go home first. I felt so sorry about the acquaintance’s comment so I apologized to her and we exchanged numbers. Later on that day, I contacted her and we met again after 2 days”, adding “We met for more than 5 hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. in the car in front of Jiyeon’s house.”
Hwang Jae-gyun, who Jiyeon after five months of dating, shared, “It was because of her laughter. When I felt depressed after losing a game, I met her and her bright smile helped me feel better. That’s why I proposed to her”.
Mentioning Hwang Jae-gyun’s hobby of collecting figures, Jeon Hyun-moo asked, “Do you want to go back to before your marriage?”, the baseball player said, “I don’t envy single people and I no longer like figures. I only need Jiyeon”, drawing admiration. When asked if they ever had a fight, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “There’s no couple that does not fight, but we should make up well. When the atmosphere gets intense, one of us will shout ‘Time’ and we’ll try to calm ourselves first before talking to each other again.”
Hwang Jae-gyun said he wanted to do a grand wedding but Jiyeon preferred a simple one so I told her that I would choose the hotel and take care of it. Regarding his proposal, he said, “I wanted to do things like fireworks or drones but I was afraid that she would feel uncomfortable so I rented a room in the restaurant owned by a close friend. I prepared a large gift box with wedding shoes, baby shoes, passport wallets, rings, etc. and left a note in the flower. Jiyeon cried as she was very touched.”
When asked about his surprise dance performance for Jiyeon at their wedding, Hwang Jae-gyun said, “I thought she would like it so I practiced dancing and prepared it right at the wedding venue”.
