Hani & Yang Jae-woong Delayed Wedding in September Due to Patient Death Aftermath? 

According to OSEN’s investigation on the afternoon of August 2, singer and actress Hani and doctor Yang Jae-woong were initially scheduled to marry in September, but there are talks of a delay due to the recent impact of a patient’s death.

Regarding this, a representative from Hani’s agency told OSEN, “It is difficult to confirm the details related to the (wedding postponement),” and refrained from further comments. They neither confirmed nor denied the rumors of postponing the wedding, which is just a month away, stating that it cannot be confirmed.

Previously, on May 31, a media outlet reported that Hani and psychiatrist Yang Jae-woong would marry in September after four years of dating.

The next day, on June 1, Hani acknowledged the marriage. Meanwhile, Yang Jae-woong later appeared on a variety show and proudly shared that Hani proposed to him first.

However, on July 26, a major network news reported that a famous psychiatrist, often appearing on television, had a patient die at his hospital. The incident occurred on May 27, when a woman in her 30s, B, was admitted for diet pill addiction treatment but died after the hospital allegedly neglected her complaints of abdominal pain, according to her family.

It was later revealed that A was Yang Jae-woong. He issued a statement after two months, expressing deep regret, “Regarding the incident that occurred during the admission process at Wjin Hospital, the medical staff and I are deeply saddened and offer our sincere apologies to the bereaved family who lost a loved one,” adding, “As the hospital director, I take this incident very seriously. Our hospital is fully cooperating with external agencies, providing medical records and CCTV footage of the events.”

The fact that Hani and Yang Jae-woong announced their marriage on June 1, just four days after the patient’s death on May 27, drew severe criticism. Many felt that it was disrespectful to the patient and the bereaved family for Dr. Yang to announce his marriage so soon after the incident.

Hani was also not free from criticism. Her personal social media and online communities were flooded with negative comments, with some questioning if she was aware of the incident, suggesting she reconsider the marriage, and making other disparaging remarks.

Moreover, B’s mother expressed outrage, stating that despite Yang Jae-woong’s apology, he never apologized or came forward after her daughter’s death, instead telling her to speak through his lawyer. 

“Now that the incident is in the media, he is doing media play. Yesterday morning, he passed by me without even a glance while I was protesting in front of the hospital. His apology is not sincere, and I cannot accept it,” she also added, further worsening public opinion.
