It was belatedly confirmed that former idol trainee Han Seo-hee (27 years old) had been indicted on charges of drug use again.
According to Newsis on August 25th, the prosecution reportedly handed Han Seo-hee to trial in January this year on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
Han Seo-hee was accused of administering methamphetamine at an officetel in Jungnang-gu, Seoul in July last year. July 2021 was when Han Seo-hee was put on trial for taking drugs during her probation. At that time, Han Seo-hee was on trial without detention.
The trial is still underway at the Seoul Eastern District Court, and the prosecution demanded a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison for Han Seo-hee in the final trial held on August 24th. The court will send Han Seo-hee to the first trial next month on charges of drug use.
This is the third time former idol trainee Han Seo-hee has been on trial on drug charges. She made her face known through MBC TV’s “Star Audition: The Great Birth 3”, which aired in 2012.
Han Seo-hee was indicted in 2016 on charges of smoking cannabis with BIG BANG’s T.O.P and was sentenced to 3 years in prison with 4 years of suspended jail, 120 hours of probation, and a fine of 870,000 won. The sentence was confirmed in September of the same year.
In August 2020, during her probation period, Han Seo-hee tested positive for drugs in a urine test conducted by the probation office under the Ministry of Justice. The prosecution believed that Han Seo-hee administered methamphetamine at a temple in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do in early June 2020, and handed her case over to trial in March last year.
In the first trial, Han Seo-hee denied the allegations, saying “I’ve never taken methamphetamine and a paper cup was dropped in the toilet and the water in the toilet was mixed into the paper cup during the urine collection process, so the urine test result cannot be accepted”, However, the court sentenced Han Seo-hee to 1 year and 6 months in prison in November 2021 and arrested her in court. Upon hearing the sentence for her, Han Seo-hee shouted “Your Honour, what are you doing?” then cursed “Ah, this is really XXX” in court.
Han Seo-hee continued to deny the charges with statements, such as “I dropped the paper cup in the toilet during the urine collection process”, “I administered methamphetamine indirectly through another person”, etc. However, the Supreme Court said, “Her attitude of consistently making excuses rather than reflecting on herself seriously is unacceptable”, and confirmed the original verdict on the 28th of last month.
Han Seo-hee is currently being imprisoned at the Seoul Eastern Detention Center.
