Han Seo-hee, a singer trainee took ‘drugs’ during probation period… 1 year and 6 months in prison

Han Seo-hee (27, female), a former singer trainee who was accused of taking drugs during the probation period, was sentenced to prison.

On the 28th, the first division of the Supreme Court (Chief Justice Oh Kyung-mi) dismissed the appeal of Ms. Han, who was charged with violating the Narcotics Control Act, and confirmed the lower court, which sentenced her to one year and six months in prison.

Han was sentenced to 3 years in prison and 4 years of probation after being accused of inhaling marijuana with Choi Seung-hyun (BIGBANG T.O.P) at Choi’s home in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in October 2016.

After that, while under probation at the probation office, she was undergoing regular drug-positive tests, and on July 7, 2020, a urine test showed positive results for psychotropic drugs such as methamphetamine and amphetamine. As a result, Han was detained at the probation center on the 20th, while the prosecution requested the cancellation of the suspended sentence of imprisonment.

The first trial sentenced her to one and a half years in prison, considering she had committed the same crime while on probation. At that time, the court issued an arrest warrant for Han in case she intended to flee. As for Han, being agitated, she uttered abusive words in court.

Ms. Han appealed on the grounds of misrepresentation of the law, misrepresentation of facts, and unfair sentencing, but the court of appeals did not accept her. The Supreme Court also dismissed Han’s appeal, noting that there was no problem with the judgment of the lower court.
