Global fans mourn the late ASTRO Moonbin, holding purple balloons in sorrow

The sudden passing of Moonbin from boy group ASTRO has sparked a wave of mourning from fans around the world.

ASTRO member Moonbin, who was active in his career, was found dead at his residence in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at around 8:10 PM on April 19th. He passed away at 25 years old.

Meanwhile, fans overseas have been setting up spaces to mourn Moonbin in their respective countries and regions. They adorned these memorial spaces with photos of Moonbin and purple balloons (ASTRO’s official color), as well as posted letters expressing their condolences for him.

The sudden news of Moonbin’s death also prompted foreign media outlets to join in mourning. In particular, the American entertainment outlet Page Six and US-based TMZ reported Moonbin’s death as breaking news, adding the phrase “RIP (Rest in Peace)” to express their condolences.

Moonbin’s mortuary was set up at Asan Hospital in Seoul, with his parents and younger sister, Billlie member Moon Sua, listed as the chief mourners. The funeral procession will take place on April 22nd, and according to ASTRO’s agency, Fantagio, all funeral procedures will be held privately, while media coverage will not be allowed.

As of the moment, fellow members JinJin and Sanha are guarding the Moonbin’s mortuary, while MJ, who is serving in the military, visited on emergency leave. Cha Eun Woo, who was in the US for his schedule, is making an urgent return to Korea and is expected to arrive on the afternoon of April 20th.

Meanwhile, Moonbin debuted as a member of boy group ASTRO in February 2016 and has been active under the unit “Moonbin & Sanha” with fellow member Sanha until recently.
