As reported by Money Today, Lee Sun Kyun’s funeral took place at Seoul National University Hospital’s funeral home.
A man with sunglasses stirred up a commotion on the third floor, repeatedly referring to the actor as his brother and discussing issues related to noise and drug use. “I just can’t wrap my head around it. I’m tearing up thinking about my brother,” the man exclaimed.
Later, as per Money Today’s account, this man cranked up the music, then joined the group of reporters stationed outside the entrance.
Hodu&U Entertainment, Lee Sun Kyun‘s management company, on behalf of the family, is appealing to uninvited guests and YouTubers to kindly refrain from disrupting the private funeral, as it is causing distress to the grieving family.
“We’re facing a challenging situation with people who identify as YouTubers showing up at the funeral home, day or night, significantly impacting the family. We appreciate those who came to bid farewell to Lee Sun Kyun on his final journey. However, all proceedings, including the funeral and burial, are being privately arranged, and we sincerely request everyone’s understanding and prayers,” stated the company representative.

The funeral for the Baeksang Arts Awards winner took place at Seoul National University Hospital’s funeral home from the evening of December 27. On December 28, numerous colleagues and renowned artists paid their respects to Lee Sun Kyun.
Money Today observed that director Bong Joon Ho – the mastermind behind the success of Parasite – attended the funeral at 9:35. Actors Park So Dam, Jeong Ryeo Won, Kim Ji Hyun, Yoo Seon, and friends of the male actor from the National Art University of Korea were also present.
Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Yoo In Chon visited Lee Sun Kyun on the afternoon of December 28. After extending his condolences, Minister Yoo remarked, “I’m Sun Kyun’s senior, and that really pains me.”
Former President Moon Jae In shared his appreciation for Lee Sun Kyun’s films, expressing a sense of losing a friend with the actor’s passing. He conveyed his sorrow as the actor chose to grapple with difficulties while under investigation.
“I genuinely hope that this serves as a moment for reflection. It’s crucial for us to steer clear of inappropriate investigative methods and improper reporting. This way, we can ensure that such a sad and regrettable incident never repeats. It’s high time we put an end to the spread of details related to the case in the media without any criminal charges. This not only harms the reputation of others but also pushes them towards extreme decisions,” Moon Jae In emphasized.
After spending two days at the funeral home, Lee Sun Kyun’s remains were transferred to Yeonhwajang, Suwon, a change from the initial location in Seonyeong, Buan, Jeollabuk-do, according to edaily.
