Female Kpop idols after their groups’ disbandment: Some succeed as soloists, some struggle to find a job in the industry

Not every idol can continue to achieve success once they are no longer members of a famous group.

Disbandment is never something that idols or fans can talk happily about. After going on separate paths, not every idol, even when they come from popular groups, can maintain popularity on their own. There are female idols who end up getting part-time jobs outside of the entertainment industry to keep themselves busy.

Suzy

CL

Debuting under the entertainment giant YG, 2NE1 became a legendary girl group of Kpop and reaped many outstanding achievements during their active years. Unfortunately, 2NE1 eventually had to disband in the regret of fans and the public.

CL

Known as the “ace” of 2NE1, CL has continued to make a name for herself as a soloist after parting ways with YG and the members. Her quality music is supported by many fans. CL is also slaying in the fashion industry. Last year, she was honored to appear at the world’s biggest fashion event, Met Gala.

HyunA

After 4minute disbanded, HyunA also left Cube with her junior/boyfriend Dawn. The two’s dating story caused a stir among netizens at the time. Currently, HyunA and her boyfriend have become artists under P-Nation and continue to engage in entertainment activities.

Facing many controversies, but HyunA is still not losing her popularity. She seems to be enjoying the best time of her life as she has both a successful career and a happy personal life. She is now engaged to Dawn. Their relationship draws much admiration and fans are hoping that they will tie the knot soon.

Tasha pursued a solo career but could not make any significant achievements. The female idol later gave up her passion to take on another job. “After leaving K-pop in early 2018, I decided not to work in the entertainment industry anymore. I was unemployed for a few months before taking a job as a sales manager at a Korean wholesale company,” she shared.
