Female actress goes from rags to riches after making Mukbang on YouTube with monthly income surpassing 14 years of acting combined

Ssoyoung’s earnings increased by the mile after she turned to Mukbang content creation on YouTube.

Recently, former actress Ssoyoung (formerly known Han So Young) went through a life-changing event when she started doing Mukbang on YouTube. Appearing on “Dongchimi” of MBN on June 24, Ssoyoung said her income reached an unimaginable amount when she did Mukbang on YouTube. Currently, her channel has reached 9.9 million subscribers.

Ssoyoung was born in 1987 and debuted in 2004. She was a familiar face on TV programs for a short while, especially through her appearance in “Glamorous Temptation.” Much as the actress boasted a bright and photogenic appearance, she struggled to rise to the next level of success and was falling behind compared to other colleagues. At that time, she turned to content creation on YouTube and specialized in Mukbang content.

Ssoyoung recently achieved a success of 10 million subscribers. Other famous Mukbang content creators such as Tzuyang or Hamzy also boast this whopping figure. Speaking about her journey on YouTube, Ssoyoung said, “My first Mukbang video was me eating kimbap. My husband bought it for me. After consistently making videos, I am nearing 10 million subscribers.”

Moreover, she also shared a whopping monthly income, saying, “It’s different every month. As you all know, it differs by how many views I received. I make more as a YouTuber in a month than I did throughout my 14-year acting career combined.”

Currently, Ssoyoung is one of many actors who look for alternatives or set a plan B in case their career does not turn out as expected. Nonetheless, content creation is no less risky when one has to invest in equipment and quality content to attract viewers and build a loyal group of followers. Some creators struggle to gain a stable income or get embroiled in controversies over toxic, unhealthy contents.
