1. Boys Over Flowers (2009)

When it comes to the most successful drama in Kim Bum’s career, fans will immediately think of his role as the “pottery prince” and “Casanova” So Yi Jung with a warm aura and captivating smile in Boys Over Flowers.

So Yi Jung, played by Kim Bum, is a member of F4, a group of handsome and wealthy boys including Goo Jun Pyo (Lee Min Ho), Yoon Ji Hoo (Kim Hyun Joong) and Song Woo Bin (Kim Joon). In the drama, So Yi Jung also has a loveline with the female lead’s best friend Ga Eul (Kim So Eun).

 2. That Winter, the Wind Blows (2013)

Although he only took part in That Winter, the Wind Blows as a supporting actor, Kim Bum’s character and couple in the melodrama still managed to garner much attention from the public, not at all inferior to the main couple. Park Jin Sung (Kim Bum) is established by the writer as an important factor that creates a turning point in the dramatic romance of Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) and Oh Young (Song Hye Kyo).

That Winter, the Wind Blows depicts the tearful love story between Oh Soo, who pretends to be Oh Young’s brother to approach her and gain access to her family’s wealth. However, during the process, he gets to know more about Oh Young and slowly begins to fall in love with her, which ruins the initial plan that he builds with Park Jin Sung. 

3. Jung Yi, Goddess of Fire

Jung Yi, Goddess of Fire is a romance drama that marks the beginning of another celebrity couple of Korean showbiz: Kim Bum and Moon Geun Young. Unfortunately, after only a short time, the two announced their breakup due to “busy schedules”. Jung Yi, Goddess of Fire is also the first historical drama Kim Bum has starred in since he became an actor.

Jung Yi (Moon Geun Young) is the first and most gifted female potter in the Joseon Dynasty period. This drama also tells the love story of Jung Yi and Kwang Hae, a lonely king. Meanwhile, Kim Bum plays Kim Tae Do – the female lead’s childhood friend, he is one-sidedly in love with Jung Yi and vows to ensure her safety with his life.

4. Hidden Identity (2015)

Kim Bum in Hidden Identity once made viewers go crazy with his mature and fierce image that was totally unseen before. Every look and gesture of the actor in the action thriller drama gives off cold and intimidating vibes.

Cha Gun Woo (Kim Bum) is a member of the 5th anti-crime unit, along with Jang Moo Won (Park Sung Woong), Jang Min Joo (Yoon So Yi) and Choi Tae Pyeong (Lee Won Jong). Besides fighting for justice, Gun Woo also sets out for revenge on the one who causes the unjust death of his girlfriend.

 5. Mrs. Cop 2 (2016)

No longer playing a gentle, nice guy that wins the hearts of women, Kim Bum once surprised the viewers when playing a handsome villain in Mrs.Cop 2. His transformation from a protagonist to an antagonist received many compliments from the public when he was willing to renew his image with a challenging role. 

Mrs. Cop 2 is a crime drama about an investigation team led by middle-aged female police officer Choi Young Jin (Kim Hee Ae). Meanwhile, Lee Ro Joon (Kim Bum) – an executive with a heinous crime, but because of his great power, he always manages to outrun the police. The conflict between good and evil promises to bring the audience extremely gripping and epic battle scenes.

6. Tale Of The Nine Tailed (2020)

After his successful role in Mrs. Cop 2, Kim Bum made a strong impression on the viewers when he continued to play a villain in “Tale Of The Nine Tailed”. The actor impressed viewers by portraying a cold, aggressive and cold-blooded character, but thanks to his handsome look, fangirls are still willing to ignore the wrongdoings of Kim Bum’s character.

Tale of The Nine Tailed revolves around the troubled romance between the Gumiho Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) and the female PD Nam Ji Ah (Jo Bo Ah) – who looks exactly like Lee Yeon’s first love. Yi Rang (Kim Bum) is related to Lee Yeon, but always finds a way to take advantage of Nam Ji Ah to make his half-brother suffer.

7. Law School (2021)

With its dramatic and exciting storyline, Law School is called a TV version of Conan on the Korean screen. After continuously playing the antagonist, fans finally get to “breathe a sigh of relief” when “good boy” Kim Bum finally returns in his latest drama in 2021.

Kim Bum in Law School attracts viewers with the intelligence of his character Joon Hwi – a law student. The drama includes many unexpected twists and turns, and the identity of the criminal being unveiled can definitely make the viewers gasp in amazement.

2. The Gifted Hands (2013)

In The Gifted Hands, Kim Bum plays the character Kim Jun – an important factor in solving mysterious cases.  Because of his superpower to see memories with just one touch, Kim Jun has to live in seclusion and express his thoughts through graffiti paintings.

Investigator Yang Chun Dong (Kim Kang Woo) teams up with Kim Jun and the two become a detective duo. At the beginning, The Gifted Hands attracts viewers with the humorous situations, but the tense and suspenseful pace of the film later is the key factor that keeps the audiences hooked. 

3. Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018)

Although not playing one of the central characters, Kim Bum still received much attention for his cold and realistic performance in the historical film Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead.

Similar to the first two parts of the film series, Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead continues to follow detective Kim Min (Kim Myung Min) to investigate mysterious cases involving fictional elements in Vampire legends. The movie includes comedic elements and gets more interesting towards the end, which is guaranteed to make the viewers’ eyes glued to the screen the entire time.

Kim Bum’s most outstanding works throughout his career have helped the actor move on from the image of a dreamy, romantic chaebol in his breakout role of the hit drama Boys Over Flowers. As Kim Bum’s acting is getting more mature, the actor is believed to achieve even more success in the future.
