Korean netizens are re-examining past broadcasts which shows Park Myung Soo forging his academic background.
Recently, an article titled “Legendary Celebrity Academic Background Forgery” was posted on various online communities, including HumorUniv.
The article included screenshots from a broadcast in which Park Myung Soo, who actually obtained a bachelor’s degree in Theater and Film at Myongji University’s Social Education Institute, was caught deceiving everyone that he had only graduated from high school.
A broadcast of KBS2’s variety show “Happy Together 3” in May 2015 showed Park Myung Soo and announcer Kim Bum Soo comparing their backgrounds. After the reveal of their family information, lifestyles, and clothing styles, the two’s educational backgrounds were mentioned.
When Park Myung Soo was disclosed to be a high school graduate according to his educational background, Park Myung Soo angrily reacted, “Why are you revealing my educational background here?”. He added, “Not being able to study higher… is it a sin? I was born during the war so I couldn’t study.”
At that moment, Yoo Jae Suk, who was sitting next to him, surprised everyone in the studio as he said, “Actually, Park Myung Soo is not a high school graduate. He already graduated from a Social Education Institute.”
Park Myung Soo was taken aback by Yoo Jae Suk’s revelation. He replied, “I’m a high school graduate. What’s wrong with it?”. He added, “What’s wrong if I really lower my educational background? Stop it”, and tried to stop Yoo Jae Suk from continuing the topic.
Yoo Jae Suk did not give in. He said, “It’s an educational background that only his acquaintances know.”
When the topic of academic background forgery was brought up on a broadcast of MBC’s variety show “Infinite Challenge” that aired in the same month, Park Myung Soo also showed a similar reaction, saying “I lowered my educational background. What’s wrong with it? Back then, the Ministry of Education recognized it.”
It was later revealed that Park Myung Soo took three attempts to gain admission to the Theatre and Film Department.
