Park Shin-hye returns after giving birth “I’ve experienced a slump too” (Doctor Slump)

JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama “Doctor Slump” (directed by Oh Hyun-jong, written by Baek Sun-woo, produced by SLL, HighZium Studio) will premiere on January 27th. On January 10th, the production team released still cuts of Park Shin-hye perfectly synchronized with the workaholic doctor “Nam Ha-neul”.

“Doctor Slump” is about the growth and love of Yeo Jeong-woo (Park Hyung-sik) and Nam Ha-neul (Park Shin-hye) who had promising prospects, but fell into a slump and quit their jobs as doctors and live in a rooftop room.

Park Shin-hye’s return as the “rom-com queen” alone is enough reason for anticipation. She portrays Nam Ha-neul, an anesthesiologist suffering from burnout syndrome. Driven by her sharp mind and relentless efforts, she became obsessed with studying, even after becoming a doctor, turning into an adult who is crazy about work. One day, realizing the breakdown of her life, which had become a “no-fun” adult life of studying and working, she reflects on her life and vows to make a change.

The still cuts show Nam Ha-neul taking an anesthesiology fellow course at a university hospital. She appears exhausted, having lived a busy and intense life at the hospital, taking care of patients but neglecting herself. Her face, tired of the repetitive routine, draws attention.

In the following photos, Nam Ha-neul roams the streets in surgical attire. Her large eyes are filled with tears that seem to burst at any moment, adding to the curiosity. Her complex and tense expression captured in an unfamiliar place outside the hospital further intensifies the interest. Expectations are heightened for the story of Nam Ha-neul.

Park Shin-hye stated, “I think everyone can experience a slump at least once in their life. I’ve had such experiences as well. As a result, I was moved by the emotions that the character Ha-neul feels. Personally, I wanted to greet viewers with a work that could provide healing through an ordinary story since I’ve shown many genre works.”

She also highlighted “emotional changes” as the main focus of her acting, saying, “I had the opportunity to talk with a psychiatrist for the role, and they mentioned that being diagnosed with depression doesn’t mean being lethargic all day. They said that Ha-neul, who has various emotions, has temporarily lost her way in overcoming difficulties. I kept these aspects in mind while acting. I wanted to depict Ha-neul, who was feeling lethargic and anxious, healing through family and Jeong-woo.
