“Fake” Woo Young Woos have been popping up on OTT platforms – an obvious ploy to utilize the hype of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”?

As the popularity of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” soared, a hilarious situation unfolds on OTT platforms without the hit K-drama.

As of July 27th, the ENA drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” has recorded its highest viewership rating of 15.8%, gaining phenomenal popularity both in and outside of Korea. As a result, many OTT platforms, despite not having this drama, try to cash in on the Woo Young Woo wave in hilarious manners.

On July 28th, a post titled “The current status of Wavve amid the Woo Young Woo sensation” was published on a Korean online forum.

According to the content of the post, the Korean online video service Wavve, is currening showing something called “Woo Young Woo’s Special”. However, as Wavve did not have the right to “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, they suggested previous works of cast members in the series instead.

Except for Netflix and seezn, which managed to acquire VOD rights for “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, other platforms must have been trying to overcome their regrets by introducing other works of Woo Young Woo’s actors and actresses like Park Eun Bin, Kang Ki Young, Kang Tae Oh, and Ha Yoon Kyung.
