Jeon Da Bin issues an apology after being caught up in a controversy over illegal filming of the movie “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
On December 22nd, an official from Jeon Da Bin’s agency told OSEN, “At the time, Jeon Da Bin went to watch ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and more than half of the audience left because the movie ended. So, she thought it was okay to take pictures. It was already the part where the ending credits went up, and it wasn’t even the main story, so she took a screenshot and posted it on social media. When it became a controversy, she was very surprised.”
The agency added, “Her SNS post was deleted immediately after learning that it was wrong. We contacted Jeon Da Bin directly to tell her what was wrong, and she is reflecting on the controversy herself.”
Previously, Jeon Da Bin watched “Avatar: The Way of Water” at a movie theater in Seoul, and when the ending credits appeared on the screen, she took a picture of the scene and shared it on social media.
Controversy arose because the image was taken from a video on the screen. According to Article 104-6 of the Cinematographic Copyrights Act (prohibition of video recording, etc.), no one shall record or publicly transmit copyright-protected cinematographic works using a recording device without the permission of the owner of copyright in a movie theater, etc. Violation of this will result in imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won.
On this day, Jeon Da Bin also made an official apology by leaving an apology through her SNS. She said, “When I woke up, all of a sudden, I didn’t know what’s going on.”
She reflected, “It was a situation where the audience was leaving after the movie ended… It was the ending credits part… It was such a good movie and I just wanted many people to see it, and I didn’t want to hurt everyone who would have made the movie with great effort, so I feel guilty. I will take this opportunity to reflect once again, think more, and act carefully.”
Previously, Jeon Da Bin signed an exclusive contract with EL Park, which houses actresses Park Sol Mi, Ryu Soo Young, and Park Han Byul.
Jeon Bin was loved by viewers for her candid and easy-going charm in “Divorced Singles 3”. As she is active as a freelance model and Pilates instructor, she drew attention throughout the show with her stunning body and hip fashion style.
In August, she revealed that she was interested in working in the entertainment industry and asked for attention to her future activities.
