BLACKPINK is rumored to return to Coachella 2023 for the “headlining acts,” can they surpass their past success?

The rumors of BLACKPINK’s performance at Coachella 2023 are gaining particular interest.

According to “Hits Daily Double,” BLACKPINK is making a comeback to Coachella as one of the headlining acts this year. If the rumor is true, they will be performing alongside Bad Bunny and Frank Ocean. Coachella 2023 is schedule to take place in April in California and is expected to attract thousands of audience each day of the festival.

Performing as the headlining act is a major step forward for BLACKPINK in comparison to the 2019 stage. Moreover, this year’s Coachella festival is including dozens and hundreds of stages, called artist “lineup,” in all scale throughout the festival days.

Despite the large number of artists, only 3 to 4 major artists are chosen for the headlining acts, or core performances with large investment, taking place in the “golden” hour to attract special attention.

BLACKPINK caused a stir when they performed in Coachella in 2019

At the Coachella 2022, the headliners were Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Kanye West and Swedish House Mafia. In the 2019 Coachella, the headlining performers were Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino and Tame Impala.

While BLACKPINK gained vast popularity for being the first K-pop group to perform at Coachella, they were only in the “lineup” list, not the “headline” one.

If they are to perform as a headliner, it will be a great joy to BLINKs. Considering their growing coverage, it will not be a surprise if BLACKPINK is chosen.

Rosé had many memorable moments

Their two-night performances in 2019 in the middle of April enjoyed great attention for a performing set lasting nearly 1 hour and containing a total of 13 songs. The successful stages caught full attention of the media around the world for weeks after the festival. Four years after their 2019 appearance, the US audience and BLACKPINK could not forget the “explosive” atmosphere of the event.

BLACKPINK
Fans and the public wondered if they would bring any surprise for this return?

Nonetheless, a majority of fans are concerned if BLACKPINK can overcome their own “shadow.” Fans speculated that BLACKPINK would use the same performing sets from their “BORN PINK WORLD TOUR” for Coachella. However, those performances have come into criticism more than once for many reasons, such as “poor quality” and “inconsistency” among the performances, according to netizens.

Whatever the setback may be, fans are keeping a positive mindset about BLACKPINK at Coachella if the rumors turn out to be true.
