Cumulative donation of 4 billion won… IU, “I learned from my mom to help people in need”

Singer-actress IU (30 years old) confessed that the reason for her steady donation was due to her mother’s influence.

In a round interview of “Broker”, the film which was selected to compete for the Palme d’Or at the 75th Cannes Film Festival held at Le Majestic, Cannes, France on May 27th (local time), IU said, “Basically, my mom told me to ‘help those in need’, so I learned that from a young age.”

On this day, when asked “Why do you constantly donate to people in need?”, she replied, “In the past, there was a time when I made a donation to an organization for single mothers. When I was younger, I actually had this thought in my young mind, ‘Should I donate?'”

Regarding this, IU shared, “My mom said, ‘If there is something that needs to be done to help others, let’s help.’ When I was young, I just wanted to own what was mine. (laugh) I learned how to donate through my mom. I’m trying to act like my mom.”
