In her Instagram post on the last day of 2022, Coco Lee disclosed her perspective on life and goal for 2023.
On July 5th, it was confirmed that Mandopop star Coco Lee has passed away by suicide, causing great grief among her family and fans. Now, the female singer’s words, which is filled with inspirational messages, are being brought up, evoking deep regrets.
In particular, back on December 31st, 2022 – which is the last day of the year, Coco Lee published various images of herself during various moments in life, and added a long caption.
At the time, the late pop star wrote, “LOVE & FAITH~ My 2 favorite words that I carry strongly in my heart, which I desperately needed to get through this incredibly difficult year. Life seemed unbearable at times but I adapted the attitude of a “female warrior” to face them head on fearlessly, but always had the biggest smile and big fat laughters!”.
“My goal in 2023 is to share my life story and how I faced major life changing hurdles and still manage to keep a positive attitude. I am happy to say I am finally living the real me. It’s the best feeling and I’m grateful everyday to be alive and I get to share my thoughts with you”, the late pop star also added.
Coco Lee then advised everyone to be the boss of their own life, adding that people should keep spreading love and positivity everywhere.
“I’m a female warrior baby! Just like The Great Wall of China I will never fall. If I can overcome anything, so can you! You are not alone, no matter how hard life gets, I’m with you”, the pop star concluded.
Meanwhile, back in March, Coco Lee revealed that she was practicing to walk again after undergoing a serious surgery for her leg. At the time, the singer confessed that she was too excited during a dancing practice, causing an old leg injury to resurface.
Coco Lee later published a video of herself after surgery, where she can be seen walking slowly while still using a walking crutch and assisted by a nurse. The female star then used a wheelchair to go back home, only to burst into tears upon seeing the “Welcome Home” teddy bear prepared by her family.
According to Coco Lee, she has an innate disability in her left leg, and had an unsuccessful surgery there back when she was 2. As a result, for the majority of her life, the pop star had no choice but to lean on her right leg.
In 2011, Lee got married to Canadian businessman Bruce Rockowitz, who had two daughters from a previous marriage. There were rumors that the couple had separated, but Coco Lee did not directly address the rumors.
In an interview with The Straits Times in 2014, Lee stated that she wanted to be remembered “as an artist who brings joy to everyone.“
“I want people to be happy when they watch me sing and dance. I want to bring joy through my music,” she said.
Coco Lee also added that she grew up in a single-parent family, and her widowed mother taught her that a woman must be strong and independent.
