Chungha, first celebrity to be reported as positive with COVID-19 “I felt like a criminal, I don’t often go to crowded places”

Singer Chungha confessed her trauma while recalling the time she was diagnosed with COVID-19

On March 12th, Chungha appeared as a guest on KBS CoolFM’s “Lee Eun-ji’s Music Plaza”.

On that day, DJ Lee Eun-ji, who claimed to be a fan of Chungha, expressed surprise, “Chungha seems to take on many challenges in her solo activities. She can only do what she’s most confident and comfortable with, but she also does hip-hop and voguing. I thought it was cool to see her challenge herself with various types of music.

Chungha replied, “Thank you for thinking that way. Some people worry about image consumption, but I find it fun to live like that.” To this, Lee Eun-ji praised, “It seems that you could become like senior Uhm Jung-hwa. You might become the top female solo singer in Korea.” Chungha humbly responded, “I’ll work hard to make that happen.

Chungha released her new single album “EENIE MEENIE” on March 11th. She revealed, “Pop singer Anne-Marie participated in the new album. At first, I felt a lot of pressure and lack of confidence, so I rejected it a few times. But if it was a song that could convince me, I thought it would convince the listeners as well.

Lee Eun-ji asked, “How does CEO Jay Park comfort you at times like that?” Chungha replied, “He doesn’t comfort me. Instead of comforting me, he encourages me to challenge myself. He said since I don’t seem to know what I want, I should try various things.”

Chungha joined More Vision, led by Jay Park, in October last year. She expressed her gratitude, “In a way, he’s the company’s CEO, so he could have chosen the songs that people expect from me, but it’s a completely new challenge. I’m actually thankful to him.”

Chungha also recalled the time when she was diagnosed with COVID-19 in 2020. She said, “I was the first celebrity to be reported as positive with COVID-19. At that time, everyone was very afraid of COVID-19, so I felt like a criminal. Because of that memory, I don’t often go to crowded places. It’s a trauma.
