Fans Point Out ZB1 And Stray Kids’ MV Similarities As Common Things, Not Plagiarism

Fans refuted the accusation of ZEROBASEONE (ZB1)’s new music video copying ideas from Stray Kids’s content

As soon as ZB1 released the music video for the song “Our Season”, some netizens raised suspicions of the MV plagiarizing Stray Kids’s “SKZFLIX” content video for their comeback promotion in the past. Various similar details were pointed out, from the thumbnail of the members sitting on a bus to other scenes in the videos.

As the plagiarism controversy intensified, many Stray Kids fans left comments under ZB1’s MV criticizing the group for plagiarising.

However, ZB1 fans argued that those similar scenes had been done in many K-pop music videos before both groups did. Some commented, “3 out of 4 things are literally just overused and normal things, K-pop plagiarism accusations always make me laugh”, These are such common tropes. Other artists have done them for years. A bus? Basketball? Ice cream? Band auditions? This is not unique”, etc.

Other fans added an explanation that ZB1’s MV was created based on the members’ answers to the question asking what they would do if they were not idols. One said, “The members themselves chose the band and basketball concept. Ricky has been playing on competitive basketball team since he was in the 7th grade so”.

Another fan carefully explained, “This MV was a project film from tehri content called ZBTV. The members came up with the idea and character. I wonder why they only mention some scenes here bcs if you look for the whole content it’s actually different. And in ZB1 version, there’s no audition at all, it’s their actual job from the character they played. Ricky and Gunwook themselves choose basketball bcs Ricky used to played basketball, and Taerae, Matthew, Gyuvin choose band bcs Taerae used to be a band member”.
