Pursuing his dream against parents’ wish
Choi Woo Sik was born in 1990 in Korea, but he moved to Canada with his family in 5th grade. As an Asian, he initially had a hard time adapting in a brand new environment, but during high school, he really found his place and dream.
Because his father is an engineer, Choi Woo Sik was directed to study Computer Engineering since childhood. Not letting his parents down, Choi Woo Sik continued to achieve good results at school and was admitted to Simon Fraser University, one of the top universities in Canada.
However, during his freshman year at Simon Fraser University, Choi Woo Sik decided to return to Korea to pursue his passion for acting. His parents were against this decision, but they still let him go.
Choi Woo Sik’s first audition in Korea did not go well because he lacked confidence. However, he still insisted on staying in Korea to make his dream come true, although his family in Canada was not supportive of this. Choi Woo Sik then passed the entrance exam to the Department of Cultural Studies at Chung Ang University and diligently joined more auditions. His hard work and talent finally paid off, as in 2011, he was cast in the film “Living in Style and The Duo”.

Choi Woo Sik got off to a late start but rapidly showed his exceptional talent. After “Set Me Free”, the first work that helped Choi Woo Sik receive movie awards, he has made great strides, participating in a series of box office blockbusters.
