Choi Jung Yoon gets criticized for illegally recording the newly released movie “Rebound”

Actress Choi Jung Yoon sparked controversy as she took photos of the scenes in a movie that is currently screened in theaters.

On April 5th, Choi Jung Yoon posted several photos on her SNS account with the caption, “I was crazy… I cried too much… I also made a short appearance. My son Ki Bum is so cool #Rebound #Touching true story #A must-watch movie #Gogo”.

The released photos contain scenes from director Jang Hang Joon’s new movie “Rebound”. Premiered that day, the movie depicts the true story of the basketball team at Busan Central High School. The cast includes Ahn Jae Hong, Lee Shin Young, Jung Jin Woon, Kim Taek, etc.

Choi Jung Yoon also recorded and posted the ending credit with detailed information on the movie’s producers, distributors, production companies, directors, main cast, and production staff.

The ending credit also shows Choi Jung Yoon’s name as the actress who played Ki Bum’s mother.

In fact, it is illegal to take photos and record scenes in movies being shown in theaters and post them on SNS. According to Article 104-6 of the Copyright Act on video recording and other prohibitions, no one is allowed to use recording equipment to record copyrighted video works being shown in movie theaters or other venues or transmit them through public broadcasting without the permission of the copyright owner.

In the past, there have been several controversies over celebrities filming and sharing scenes from ongoing movies.

In 2016, Gong Hyun Joo posted the ending scene of the movie “Bridget Jones’s Baby” with a spoiler about the ending, arousing public enrage. Later, the actress apologized via her company.

In 2017, Shinhwa Lee Min Woo also released photos containing scenes from “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and had to issue an apology after receiving criticism from movie viewers. In the same year, Jo Hyang Gi also caused a stir after posting photos taken while watching “Murder on the Orient Express”. The movie production team then asked the actress to delete her photos in accordance with the Copyright Law.
