BTS’s V bags more records as he surpasses 53 million followers on Instagram

“Record Setter” BTS’s V hit another impressive milestone on Instagram. 

On November 21, V became the first Korean male star to surpass 53 million followers on Instagram. He set a record for reaching this milestone in the shortest period of time worldwide. V recorded 53,289,048 followers as of 5 am KST on November 26th.

Since BTS launched their personal Instagram accounts last December, 8 years after their debut, V has set numerous firsts and best records, including hitting 1 million followers in the shortest time (43 minutes), 10 million followers in 4 hours and 52 minutes, ranking No.1 among Korean male stars with the most followers after just 16 days. 

In the first half of this year, from January to June, V ranked first in Instagram follower growth for six months in a row, proving his top-tier social media power.

V’s Instagram is unrivaled not only in the number of followers, but also in the number of ‘Likes’, which are two popular indicators.

The post in which V posted four photos of his dog Yeontan surpassed 20 million ‘likes’ and ranked in the top 20 of the most liked posts on Instagram.

In addition, V is the first Asian celebrity to have four posts with over 19 million likes. In the ranking of most liked posts by Asian celebrities, V occupies 1st to 4th place.

V also boasts the hottest social influence by recording the world’s highest amount of money received from sponsorship of up to $814,000 (approximately 1,087 million won) as evaluated by social media auditor company ‘Speakrj’.

V proves his huge popularity by setting records not only on Instagram but also on Google, the world’s largest search engine. In the first half of this year, V ranked first in search volume for Asian stars in Google Trends, the 2nd year in a row after 2021.

V also boasts the status of a top idol by ranking first in the individual page views of Korean celebrities in the official Wikipedia rankings in October. Since the official Wikipedia rankings began to be provided in January 2021, he has been No. 1 in K-pop male solo for 22 consecutive months, consistently showing the highest buzzworthiness.
