Who is Jin?
Jin. whose full name is Kim Seokjin, was born on December 4, 1992. He is a member of famous K-pop boy group BTS, and serves as a vocalist and visual of the group.

Jin’s Basic Info
Jin was born in Anyang, Gyeonggi-do, Korea, but his family moved to Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do, when he was about 1 year old. He has a brother named Kim Seok-joon, who is 2 years older than him.
Jin graduated from Konkuk University with a degree in Film Studios in 2017, and later enrolled in graduate school at Hanyang Cyber University to pursue studies in areas other than music.
He was scouted by SM Entertainment on the street, but turned down the offer. Later on in 2011, he was street-casted by Big Hit Entertainment (now Big Hit Music) while on this way to school.
Jin’s Career
- Before BTS
As a trainee, Jin appeared as an extra on TEEN TOP’s “No more perfume on you” MV in 2011. In the following year, he assumed the role of the groom in 2AM’s “電話に出ない君に (Denwa ni Denai Kimi ni)” MV, followed by playing a servant on Jo Kwon’s “I’m Da One” MV.

Jin debuted with BTS on June 13, 2013, and has since released an extensive discography with the group.

- Solo
Jin has released several solo songs credited under BTS, including “Awake”, “Epiphany”, “Moon”, and “Epiphany” (Jin Demo Ver.).
He also participated in the OST “Yours” (for “Jirisan”), and dropped several digital singles including “이 밤 (Tonight)”, “Abyss”, and “슈퍼 참치 (Super Tuna)”.
He also released the solo single album “The Astronaut” in 2022, officially making his solo debut.
He enlisted in December 2022, and is expected to be discharged in June 2024.
Additional facts about Jin
Jin originally wanted to become a journalist, but decided to pursue acting after watching Kim Nam-gil in the K-drama “Queen Seondeok”. He was accepted on an early admission to both of the best acting universities in Korea – Konkuk and Sejong.
He is a very good cook, and has the “best body” in BTS, according to the members.
Alongside his angelic vocals and good look (hence the self-proclaimed nickname “worldwide handsome”), Jin is also known to have a hilarious personality and often lighten up the mood of the group.
Jin also actively participates in philanthropy acts, and is known to have been a monthly donor to UNICEF Korea since May 2018. He requested his donations to be private at the time, but they were eventually publicized following his induction into the UNICEF Honors Club in May 2019 for donating over ₩100 million.
Health Issue
Back in March 2022, Jin was announced to have injured his left index finger, and had to undergo surgery to repair a damaged tendon in the finger. According to Big Hit Music, Jin’s surgery went well, but he had to take temporary rest and wear a cast on his finger. He eventually recovered nicely.
Controversy
In 2014, fans spotted a box of condoms in a photo of Jin, sparking various speculations. However, as rumors spread, Big Hit released an official statement, affirming that while there was a box of condom in the photo, it was a gift from fans
