More and more Kpop groups are competing for this prestigious music award.
On October 26, Billboard officially confirmed that BTS had submitted nominations for this year’s Grammy Awards. Their album BE and the song “Butter” were submitted by the Big Hit boy group in many categories, including Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – the category that the group received a nomination for last year with Dynamite.
A few days earlier, BLACKPINK was the first K-pop representative to confirm to submit an application for the 2022 Grammy Awards. Interscope Records - BLACKPINK’s agency in the US sent the group’s profile to the Best New Artist category. The group will compete for nominations with bright names like Olivia Rodrigo or The Kid LAROI.
Not only BTS and BLACKPINK, this year’s race also has the participation of 2 other Kpop representatives: Twice and TXT. A representative from JYP said that Twice had submitted an application for the album Taste Of Love. On the TXT side, the group sent to the Grammy Council the album The Chaos Chapter: Freeze. Both groups did not disclose the category they chose.
