Actress Jeon Do Yeon challenged an action work for the first time through the movie “Kill Boksoon”.
On March 21st, the press conference of Netflix’s movie “Kill Boksoon” was held at Grand Intercontinental Parnas Seoul, Samseong-dong, Seoul. Actors Jeon Do Yeon, Sol Kyung Gu, Kim Si A, Esom, Koo Kyo Hwan and director Byun Sung Hyun attended the event.
“Kill Boksoon” is Jeon Do Yeon‘s first action work. It revolves around Gil Bok Soon (Jeon Do Yeon), a legendary killer in the contract killing industry who gets caught up in an unavoidable confrontation just before renewing her contract with her company.
In February, it was officially invited to the Berlinale Special section at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and received good reviews.
Jeon Do Yeon said, “I want to do various works, but I didn’t have many opportunities. I was happy with the proposal of a genre film, but I was half in doubt because I had never decided to appear before the scenario came out.“
She added, “When I read the scenario, I was surprised that there were more action scenes than I thought, and I was afraid if I could do well.“
As for the reason why the title is “Kill Boksoon”, director Byun shared, “At first, I couldn’t decide the name of the main character. While I was talking to Jeon Do Yeon, she got a call. I got a feeling when I saw the name ‘Aunt Bok Soon’ on her cell phone. She said she didn’t want that name, so I pushed it further with a rebellious spirit.“
Jeon Do Yeon confessed, “I delivered the story to my aunt, and she said it was a great honor. When I first heard the name Bok Soon, I wondered if this was the right name. Would this name go well with a killer? But now I think about what it would have been like if it wasn’t Bok Soon.“
