BLACKPINK’s Lisa Makes History as First Female K-pop Artist to Enter Spotify’s Billions Club

BLACKPINK’s Lisa celebrated her solo entry into the Billions Club on Spotify

Spotify recently announced that BLACKPINK Lisa’s song “Money” has reached 1,002,683,408 streams on the platform. Lisa has secured her place in the Spotify Billions Club alongside top artists like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Post Malone. The Billions Club is a playlist on Spotify that gathers songs with over 1 billion streams. BTS achieved this milestone in 2021.

Lisa is also the first female K-pop artist to join the Spotify Billions Club. Lisa’s solo achievement surpasses even BLACKPINK’s smash hit “How You Like That”. In September of this year, Lisa’s “Money” set a Guinness World Record as the first K-pop song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify, exactly one year after its release.

On November 14th, a video of Lisa receiving the Billions Club plaque was released by Spotify.

In the video, Lisa joyfully exclaimed, “Yes!” while reading a letter from Spotify congratulating her on being the first female K-pop artist to achieve 1 billion streams on the platform. Lisa expressed her happiness by signing her autograph.

Recently, Lisa has become the BLACKPINK member making the most headlines, facing controversies related to dating rumors and criticism for her performance at Crazy Horse. 

In the Chinese market, Lisa is also at risk of being blacklisted due to strong opposition from netizens following her Crazy Horse show. On another note, her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment ended in August, and she is currently in discussions for a new contract.
