To play Moon Dong Eun, Song Hye Kyo has to undergo a strict diet regime and temporarily leaves behind her old image.
At the age of 41, she took a bold step forward and showed the lines on her face to look the part and accurately portray the pain of bullied victims.
The scene where Moon Dong Eun dropped her clothes to reveal the scars, Joo Yeo Jeong (Lee Do Hyun) saw in crystal clear the scar of past physical torments. The scene became a talk of the town after for its raw depiction of the pain as well as the bold move from actress Song.
In the second part, Song Hye Kyo filmed a 20-second long bathroom scene where she revealed her frail and skinny body, mostly the result of a strict diet regime. It also aligns with the character’s description that Moon Dong Eun is not interested in food and dedicates her whole existence to revenge.
On March 27th, HK 01 reported Song Hye Kyo’s method to drop weight quickly without feeling hungry soon afterwards:
- Maintaining a diet on tofu
Her diet is composed almost entirely of tofu. She maintains 3 meals a day with raw healthy food and stays away from fried, oily food. Tofu is rich in protein and low in calories; hence, it will not affect one’s overall health.
- Stop eating after 6
She eats three meals a day at a specific time, which are 8 a.m, 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. She does not eat anything else for dinner to allow her stomach to digest.
- A glass of lemonade every day
As the lemonade contains vitamins, it can fasten the metabolism.
