Appearance fees of Disney’s live-action film “The Little Mermaid” actors revealed

While “The Little Mermaid” is ranking No.2 in the box office chart with favorable reviews, the cast’s appearance fees were also reported.

U.S. entertainment media ShowbizGalore recently unveiled the appearance fees of actors starring in “The Little Mermaid”.

Accordingly, Halle Bailey, who plays the main character Ariel, got paid 1.5 million dollars (about 1.9 billion won).

Jonah Hauer-King, who appears in the movie as Prince Eric, received 750,000 dollars (about 1 billion won). “Ursula” Melissa McCarthy and “King Triton” Javier Bardem earned 500,000 dollars (about 660 million won) and 700,000 dollars (about 933 million won), respectively.

The media also reported that Noma Dumezweni got paid 400,000 dollars (about 528 million won) to portray Queen Selina. Both Art Malik, who appears as Sir Grimsby, and Lorena Andrea, who plays Perla, received 200,000 dollars (about 264 million won). In addition, the amount that Kajsa Mohammar got from her role of Karina was 170,000 dollars (about 224 million won).

The highest-paid actor among the cast of “The Little Mermaid” is “Ariel” Halle Bailey. She received thrice more than her senior actress Melissa McCarthy.

Some argue that it is ridiculous to see world-class top actors, such as Melissa McCarthy and Javier Bardem, receive such appearance fees, and wonder whether the actors will get additional payments in the form of box office bonuses, depending on the success of the film, apart from the appearance fees.

Some netizens are also questioning the authenticity of the information about appearance fees. 

Meanwhile, the production of “The Little Mermaid” reportedly cost 250 million dollars (about 330 billion won).
