An actor who quitted a large company because of an audition program he signed up for while drunk

Actor Heo Sung-tae, who became a global star thanks to “Squid Game”, is also the protagonist of a movie-like story.

He debuted at a late age of 35 and is enjoying his heyday. However, in the past, he started from the bottom after quitting job at a large company despite his family’s dissuasion.

Heo Sung-tae worked as an office worker at a shipyard in Geoje Island with an annual salary of 70 million won. He resigned from his company and walked the path of an unknown actor after finishing 5th place on an actor audition program in 2011.

Then, he made his face known when he was cast in “The Age of Shadows”. His character was slapped by actor Song Kang-ho, and it was so intense that he was able to impress many moviegoers.

Recalling that time, Heo Sung-tae said that he was endlessly grateful to his wife for trusting and following him, and that if it had not been for his wife’s words, he would not have been the current actor Heo Sung-tae.

He confessed, “In fact, I challenged acting because my wife actively recommended it. She gave me full support.”

He added, “When I met my former colleagues, I remembered myself acting at work. It’s amazing.” In an interview, he laughingly said, “If I hadn’t left the company, I’d have been a manager by now.”

He continued, “It’s a blessing to have something you want to do before you die, and it’s also a great blessing to have the courage to take on the challenge and have your family to support it.” At the same time, he expressed his sorriness towards his mother.

Meanwhile, actor Heo Sung-tae returned to the screen with the movie “Hunt“. “Hunt” is a spy action movie in which Park Pyong-ho (played by Lee Jung-jae) and Kim Jung-do (played by Jung Woo-sung), who suspect each other and find the spy hidden in their agency, face a huge incident called “Korea’s No.1 assassination operation”. Heo Sung-tae played the role of Jang Cheol-seong, KCIA Domestic Unit agent and a loyal subordinate of Kim Jung-do.
