Ahn Eun-jin has officially done it. After overcoming the disappointment of her first lead drama ending in the 0% range, she has now returned four years later as one of Korea’s most reliable romance heroines. With her stable acting, sharp comic timing, and striking transformation through intense dieting, the actress is said to be experiencing the peak of her seven-year drama career.
Ahn Eun-jin is currently starring in the SBS Wed–Thu drama Dynamite Kiss, showcasing refreshing rom-com chemistry with actor Jang Ki-yong. The series follows single woman Go Da Rim (Ahn Eun-jin), who fake-hires herself as a mother for the sake of survival, and team leader Gong Ji-hyuk (Jang Ki-yong), who unexpectedly falls in love with her.

Her bubbly comedic touch and confident performance give life to a character that could easily slip into cliché. Despite early concerns that the story of a man falling for a woman he believes to be married might glamorize infidelity, tight early storytelling and Ahn Eun-jin’s emotionally grounded acting provided convincing romantic tension.
Viewers responded. After starting in the 4% range, Dynamite Kiss climbed steadily, surpassing 6% by episode 4. Episode 5 dipped slightly to 5.9%, but for an SBS Wed–Thu drama returning after six years, the performance is meaningful. Back in 2019, SBS Wednesday–Thursday dramas averaged only 3–4%.

Ahn Eun-jin made her drama debut in 2018 with the web series Number Woman Gye Sook-ja (web drama), later gaining major recognition in tvN’s Hospital Playlist as OB-GYN resident Chu Min-ha. Her sweet and awkward romance with Yang Seok-hyeong, played by Kim Dae-myung, earned the nickname “ChuChu Couple” and became hugely loved.
Riding that popularity, Ahn Eun-jin secured her first official leading role in 2021 with The One and Only. Though the drama received praise as a well-made piece for its warm, meaningful portrayal of terminally ill characters searching for joy rather than despair, its late-night 11 p.m. time slot cost it general appeal ultimately ending in the 0% range.

But her romance path only flourished afterward. In 2023, she starred in JTBC’s The Good Bad Mother as Mi-joo, a single mother of twins. Her painful yet unconditional love for Choi Kang-ho (Lee Do-hyun) moved viewers deeply, helping the series become the highest-rated weekday JTBC drama in history.
The same year, she delivered her career-defining performance as Yoo Gil-chae in MBC’s My Dearest. From a spoiled noblewoman to a resilient survivor shaped by war, Ahn Eun-jin showcased remarkable emotional range. Her heartbreaking romance with Lee Jang-hyun (Namgoong Min) sparked massive buzz, ultimately winning her both the Best Couple Award and the Top Excellence Award at the 2023 MBC Drama Awards.

Now, with Dynamite Kiss, she is hitting the pinnacle of her romance career. Ahn Eun-jin underwent a rigorous diet for the role, revealing a sharper jawline and noticeably slimmer physique. Viewers reacted with comments such as:
- Ahn Eun-jin is so skinny now she really did it.
- She looks even prettier after losing weight.
- She must have worked hard for the role.
From a drama that couldn’t surpass 0% to becoming a name synonymous with “trustworthy romance lead,” Ahn Eun-jin has indeed carved out her place in the spotlight and this time, it looks like she’s here to stay.
