Aespa’s 2nd mini-album gained 1 million pre-orders within the first week, becoming the first Gen 4 girl group to do so

On the first day of June, aespa took to their official social media accounts to announce their upcoming return with a mini-album titled “Girls.” ‘SM Entertainment’ then started pre-orders for aespa’s 2nd mini-album on June 2. On June 9, about a week later, SM Ent announced that this album has surpassed 1 million pre-orders.

Thus, aespa is the second K-Pop girl group in history (after BLACKPINK) to gain this achievement, after only 10 days of opening for sale.

Aespa, which made the debut in November 2020, has been heralded as a “monster rookie” with three consecutive hits, from “Black Mamba” to the single “Next Level.” and the first mini-album. “Sinister.” Since they have established themselves as the representative girl group of the 4th generation, the expectations for this album are also very high.

In particular, aespa recently established a global partnership with Warner Records. Previously, the group became the first K-pop girl group to perform at the main stage of the world’s largest outdoor music festival Coachella and was selected as the artist for the “Up Next” global campaign of Apple Music in June, boosting its international reputation.

Meanwhile, Espa’s second mini-album “Girls” will be released simultaneously in Korea and the U.S. on July 8, and the English single “Life’s Too Short” will be released on June 24.
