A famous idol who recently suspended activities due to his DUI incident eventually leaves the group
VICTION member Heo Chan, who recently stopped all activities due to drunk driving suspicion, will withdraw from the group.
IST Entertainment officially revealed a position on October 11th, saying “We would like to inform you of the group member change”, adding “Heo Chan has decided to leave the group”.
The agency continued, “The decision was made after receiving Heo Chan’s wish that he doesn’t want to cause more inconvenience to the team and other members’ opinions”, adding “Once again, we would like to apologize for concerning fans with this sudden news”.
IST Ent. explained, “VICTION will be reorganized as a group of six members, including Han Seung-woo, Kang Seung-sik, Im Se-jun, Do Han-se, Choi Byung-chan, and Jung Soo-bin”, adding “2022 VICTION FANCONCERT [CHRONICLE] scheduled for the 15th and 16th of this month and the other activities in the future will be done by 5 members, except for Han Seung-woo, who is enlisting in the military”.
Lastly, they said, “VICTION members are sweating and working hard for the concert that lots of fans have been waiting for”, adding “We hope you can continue to show interest and support to the members so that their efforts are not in vain”.
Earlier last month, Heo Chan was caught drunk driving by the police on his way home after meeting his acquaintances. At that time, VICTION’s agency announced through the group’s fancafe that “Heo Chan is expected to be subject to a suspension of his driver’s license after the police investigation ended.”
After that, Heo Chan posted an apology on fancafe, saying “I’m spending every day blaming myself and feeling regretful”, adding “I will bear in my mind all the criticism and fault-finding toward my irreversible wrongdoing and live with deep reflection to become a person who is not ashamed of myself in the future”.
Heo Chan debuted as the main dancer and sub-vocalist of VICTION in November 2016. He made his name and face widely known to the public after appearing on MBC’s “King of Mask Singer” several times as a contestant and panelist.
