A new nickname is gaining traction among K-pop fans: “Lee-Bang-Won. The term refers not to the famous historical figure, but to three of the most talked-about visual members of fifth-generation girl groups: Ian of Hearts2Hearts, Bang Jeemin of izna, and Wonhee of ILLIT.
The nickname follows in the footsteps of the legendary fourth-generation visual trio “JangKaSeol,” which referred to Jang Wonyoung, Karina, and Sullyoon.

Among the three, Wonhee is enjoying particularly strong momentum. ILLIT recently wrapped up promotions for its fourth mini album, with title track It’s Me continuing to perform strongly. The group secured consecutive music show wins on Show! Music Core and Inkigayo, even as promotions were nearing their end. The song’s techno-inspired sound has helped ILLIT maintain strong positions on Korean streaming charts while also earning impressive results in Japan, where the group has ranked among the highest-performing foreign artists on both Billboard Japan and Oricon streaming charts.

Hot on ILLIT’s heels is izna. The group officially returned on June 8 with METRONOME, the title track of its third mini album. Built around a sleek house-inspired sound, the comeback highlights izna’s signature confidence and sophisticated performance style. Bang Jeemin has also drawn attention for participating in the writing of a fan song included on the album, giving fans a chance to see another side of her artistry beyond her visual appeal.

Meanwhile, SM Entertainment’s rookie girl group Hearts2Hearts is preparing to enter the summer comeback season on June 22 with its second mini album, Lemon Tang. The release will feature a bright dance-pop concept designed to match the summer season, with lyrics penned by veteran songwriter KENZIE. Expectations are high for Ian, who has quickly emerged as one of the most recognizable faces among fifth-generation idols.
Although the “Lee-Bang-Won” nickname initially began as a playful fan-made term, Ian, Bang Jeemin, and Wonhee have increasingly established themselves as representative figures of their generation.

Each brings a distinct charm and image, while serving as key centers and visual members within their respective groups. With ILLIT, izna, and Hearts2Hearts all competing for attention this summer, the friendly rivalry among the three rising stars has become one of the most interesting storylines in the fifth-generation girl group landscape.
As comeback season heats up, many fans will be watching to see which member and which group emerges as the standout performer of the summer.
