bigbang 20th anniversary official account

Group BIGBANG has officially kicked off its 20th anniversary celebrations by launching new official accounts, signaling the start of a major new chapter. What drew the most attention, however, was the account’s follow list—which unexpectedly included former member T.O.P, sparking intense discussion among fans.

On April 21 at 8:19 PM—symbolically matching the group’s debut date of August 19—BIGBANG simultaneously opened accounts on a global fandom platform and social media. The move is seen as the first step in their 20th anniversary project, reflecting the members’ intention to reconnect more actively with fans worldwide.

The first post featured the silhouettes of G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, accompanied by the bold phrase “BIGBANG IS BACK.” A teaser video and newly unveiled logo incorporating the message “20TH ANNIVERSARY” further fueled anticipation for the group’s upcoming activities.

Yet the biggest talking point was the account’s following list. Among the five accounts followed were the three active members, their agency, and notably T.O.P—who had previously departed from the group. Meanwhile, former member Seungri was absent, leading some to interpret the selection as a deliberate distinction tied to past controversies.

Fans quickly flooded online communities with mixed reactions. Some speculated that T.O.P’s inclusion could hint at a potential reunion, while others argued it was merely symbolic. There were also lighthearted responses, with fans expressing surprise that BIGBANG had gone nearly two decades without an official account, and joking that they initially expected all five members to be included.

T.O.P was previously sentenced to 10 months in prison with a two-year probation for marijuana use. After leaving the group in 2023 and suggesting retirement, he later reversed course and resumed activities in 2024 through Netflix’s Squid Game 2, along with releasing a solo album earlier this year.

Seungri, on the other hand, withdrew from the group and retired from the entertainment industry in 2019 following his involvement in the high-profile Burning Sun scandal.

Recently, BIGBANG made headlines again after performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, delivering a 67-minute set packed with hit songs and solo stages that reignited global fan excitement. The group has since announced plans for a world tour beginning this August, marking their first large-scale project under the BIGBANG name in approximately nine years since the “LAST DANCE” tour in 2017.

As BIGBANG embarks on its 20th anniversary journey, all eyes are on what the legendary group will bring next—and whether this new beginning could open the door to even more surprises.
