The ongoing controversy surrounding actor Kim Soo Hyun and the late actress Kim Sae Ron has taken another dramatic turn following the arrest of YouTuber Kim Se Ui, head of the controversial Garo Sero Institute.
According to recent reports, attorney Go Sang Rok, the legal representative for Kim Soo Hyun, appeared on MBC’s News Today and provided new details regarding the investigation into audio recordings that were previously presented as evidence against the actor.
During the broadcast, Go explained why authorities concluded that an audio file allegedly containing Kim Sae Ron’s voice was likely generated or manipulated using artificial intelligence technology.
A key factor in that conclusion, according to the lawyer, was the credibility of the individual who supplied the recording to Kim Se Ui. The source, identified as “Kali Park,” allegedly made a series of extraordinary claims that investigators found difficult to verify.
Among the statements attributed to Kali Park were allegations that a hitman had been hired by Kim Soo Hyun to follow him and that actor Won Bin personally visited him to offer comfort following a separate incident. The legal team argued that such claims raised serious concerns about the informant’s reliability.
The controversy deepened after multiple versions of the alleged audio recordings surfaced online. According to reports, the recordings contained inconsistent conversations and appeared to have been edited. Investigators also noted that the original audio files were never submitted for forensic examination.
As a result, police reportedly concluded that the recordings had been manipulated and could not be treated as credible evidence.
Meanwhile, Kim Soo Hyun’s legal team revealed plans to significantly increase the amount of damages being sought from Kim Se Ui.
Attorney Go stated that an initial lawsuit seeking 12 billion won was filed shortly after the controversy began. However, after reviewing financial losses and damages allegedly caused by the scandal, the actor’s team now estimates the losses at approximately 30 billion won.
The latest developments follow a court decision to issue an arrest warrant for Kim Se Ui. Authorities cited concerns that evidence could be destroyed and that the suspect might attempt to evade the investigation.
Kim Se Ui is accused of spreading false information through YouTube broadcasts, including allegations that Kim Soo Hyun had dated Kim Sae Ron while she was a minor and that pressure from the actor’s side contributed to her death.
Additional accusations involve the alleged use of AI-generated recordings and manipulated screenshots of private messages that were presented as evidence against the actor.
The controversy first erupted after an individual claiming to be Kim Sae Ron’s aunt alleged through Garo Sero Institute that Kim Soo Hyun had been involved in a long-term relationship with the actress beginning when she was underage.
Kim Soo Hyun has consistently denied those allegations. Through his legal representatives, he has maintained that any relationship between the two occurred only after Kim Sae Ron had reached adulthood.
As the investigation continues, recent court decisions and police findings appear to be strengthening Kim Soo Hyun’s position, while raising further questions about the credibility of several key accusations made against him.
