A Korean OTT drama production team is facing criticism after allegedly installing filming props on a private residence without permission and covering the homeowner’s CCTV camera during a shoot in Daejeon.
The controversy was recently highlighted on Crime Chief, which aired a report about a dispute that occurred during a drama filming session in a residential neighborhood.
According to the homeowner who submitted the report, a drama crew began filming in an alley near the residence on May 18. During the process, the homeowner allegedly witnessed staff members removing CCTV warning signs and other notices attached to the exterior wall of the house.
When questioned about their actions, a filming staff member reportedly apologized and claimed they “thought the house was vacant.”
However, the situation escalated several days later when the homeowner discovered that the property’s CCTV camera had been covered with plastic.
Footage released from the home’s surveillance system allegedly showed a woman believed to be part of the production crew attaching props to the wall without authorization before covering the CCTV camera.
The homeowner later reported the incident to police but claimed authorities responded by advising the matter be handled as a civil complaint instead. The resident also alleged that the filming site was not properly restored after production wrapped up.

As the story gained attention online, the drama’s production company addressed the controversy through Crime Chief.
According to the production team, the art department had attached the props and covered the CCTV camera in order to create a setting that matched the drama’s historical time period.
The company further stated that staff members met directly with the homeowner to apologize and attempted to discuss compensation for the damages and inconvenience caused.
The incident has since sparked debate among Korean netizens regarding filming etiquette, property rights, and whether production teams should face stricter regulations when shooting in residential areas.
Many online commenters criticized the explanation that the home was believed to be vacant, while others argued that production crews should still obtain proper consent before altering or interacting with private property in any way.
